Over 5000 taxi drivers protested in Xining, the capital of Qinghai which is a province located in the western China. Drivers across Qinghai Province were upset after a misleading newspaper report on Friday: the provincial government would cut their license periods from 12 years to 8 years, meaning most of their licenses would expire now or in a year. But the truth is that the shorter period would only apply to new licenses, and that existing drivers would have unspecified advantages in renewing their licenses. But some say that the policy was ambiguous and might be hard to understand.
The police arrested 35 people during the protest for their “violent behaviors”.
